Eritriya Ya Jarat al-Bahr – Asmara Choir
This popular Arabic song, originally written by Mohammed Osman Ka- jaray in 1976, and performed by Idris Mohammed Ali brings to mind the intimate, intertwined relationship Eritrea has historically had with the Red Sea. Translating to “Eritrea, neighbor of the Red Sea,” this song was considered the song of the people’s struggle, especially during the late 70’s.
